If you are looking for a calm, quiet dog who wants nothing more than to sleep next to you on the couch, then look no further. Esme is one of the sweetest, most well-behaved dogs you will ever meet. She was obviously neglected and abused in her previous life; she came to PMR nearly unrecognizable as a schnauzer with long, matted, parasite infested hair and ears. Now that she's all cleaned up and parasite free, her foster family is working on getting her to trust humans. She's as sweet as can be, and she'll ask for attention by crawling up to you with her head down and gently patting you with her paw, but she will duck and wince when you go to pet her. Once she starts trusting you, she'll become your loving little shadow, cuddling you every step of the way. Because of her quiet, calm nature and need for plenty of patience, we believe that she will do well in a slow-paced home with no young children or young/energetic dogs. (We are not ruling out applications with young kids entirely, but please be aware that she will most likely never be the lively playmate that most small children need.
