Jackson is a 4-year-old dalmation/ great dane mix who wants nothing more than to lay in your lap and be loved. He is eager to please and is working on building his confidence and learning that the world is not such a scary place after all. He seems to adore children, but has only been exposed to children in the 10 and older age range. Children under 5 or extremely high-strung children may overwhelm him a little.

Jackson would prefer a world where his humans never left his side, but has adjusted to not having that luxury all of the time. He has learned to stay with the other dogs in his foster home during the day and gets along easily with them all.

Because Jackson is still building confidence, he must be introduced to new dogs slowly. Once he understands that the new dog does not want to hurt him, he is fine and actually seems to enjoy its presence.

Jackson is a beautiful boy with a sensitive soul. He has suffered from a hard past and is working diligently to overcome it and learn how to just be a dog! We are very proud of the progress that he has made thus far and look forward to him finding the right home- where he can continue to grow and know that he is safe. In return, he will make a most loyal and loving companion.

UPDATE: Jackson continues to make great strides in building his confidence. He is only improving every day and is just a wonderful boy who is so gentle and sweet with people. He really wants to crawl in your lap and stay forever!

He has continued to meet new dogs and has not had any problems with any of them. As long as they don't chase him or corner him, he seems to barely notice them. Dogs that chase him or won't leave him alone still make him nervous, but he is very responsive to voice commands that reassure him that the situation is ok.

All in all, he has just come so far and is just a beautiful boy, inside and out.

Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Special Needs: Jackson has a mild eye condition that requires his caretaker to apply lubrication on a regular basis. There is a chance the condition could eventually need surgery if it worsens, but at the present time it appears to only need regular ointment and is not worsening.
